This is one of the finest disc that has appeared in this remarkable series, in which Russian Orthodox choirs in Russia are recording sacred works by Russian emigre composers, thus enabling these fine compositions and arrangements to be heard for the first time. This CD is outstanding, both in choice of repertoire, and in terms of the execution--by Ekaterinburg's municipal "Domestik" Choir, one of the finest professional choral ensembles in Russia today. Of special interest are the musical settings by Nicolai Tcherepnin and A. Il'yashenko, which rank next to the finest sacred works of Rachmaninoff and Kastalsky; only a fine choir of the size and caliber of "Domestik" can do these works justice. As in previous issues, the notes, in Russian and English, offer informative commentary on the composers and the music. This limited edition become a collector's item, as the initial pressing quickly sold out. Don't miss it!--V.M.
