REVIEW
The world-class Preludiu Chamber Choir of Romania sings breathtakingly beautiful Romanian versions of Byzantine chants, both anonymous and by known composers such as Evstatie Protopsaltul, Necrarie Frimu, and Ivascu Vlahu (dating, to the best of our information, from the Renaissance). The sound of the choir is ethereal—pure and “dispassionate”--which brings their singing solidly within the realm of the Orthodox liturgical aesthetic. Even though the notes (in French and English) provide minimal information about the selections, the listening experience is extraordinary!--V.M.
