The Konevets Quartet is well known and well loved for their suave and tuneful renditions of Orthodox sacred music. On this CD they sing a variety of chant arrangements and original compositions, many of which are being recorded for the first time. This CD will be greatly enjoyed by all fans of this fine ensemble as well as by those who will meet them for the first time on this disc. The CD was recorded at the New Valaam Monastery established in Finland by refugee monks who fled the original Valaam (now re-opened), when it was closed by the Bolsheviks.--V. M.
