REVIEW
Known for its historical research and innovative thematic programming, the Male Choir of the "Valaam" Institute presents a collection of Russian soldiers' songs dating from the Persian War of 1826-28, the Turkish War of 1828-29, and the pacification of the Polish uprising in 1831, all led by the Russian general, Count Ivan Paskevich--hence the title of this CD. While this disc will be of special interest to lovers of Russian military history, it will be enjoyed by all those who love rousing Russian male chorus singing.--V.M.
