“Prayerful singing” is sometimes an elusive term to define objectively. But if you want to hear prayerful Orthodox liturigcal singing, this CD epitomizes it! The small choir of nuns at the St. Paisius Monastery sing simply, tunefully, and with good ensemble. Everything—both from a musical and liturgical standpoint—is present here in the proper amount and proportion: true and genuine harmony! Like their earlier release of para-liturgical spritual songs by St. Nikolai Velimirovic (K40, entitled “Dukhovnaja Lira”), this CD is not only a pleasure to listen to, but also fills the hearer with a profound spiritual calm and serenity.--V.
